Posted: May 21, 2011 by trggradio in Activism, Community Organizing, Malcolm X

On this episode (in two parts) we continue our discussion of the life and politics of Malcolm X with Dr. Amilcar Shabazz, chair of the W.E.B. Du Bois Department of Afro-American Studies at the University of Massachusetts, Amherst. We discuss his own turn toward Malcolm, the history and politics of reparations, and a brief history of Harlem nationalism(s) in the 1980s. We began the show in conversation with Josh from TRGGR who called in to give a brief review of the Malcolm panel held at the Schomburg Center on Malcolm’s 86th birthday, May 19th. (See related post below; commentary by Christian Waterman).
